Wedding Ring Detail

Detail photographs are important.

I knew that time would be an issue for photographing Angie and Dale’s wedding. I suggested that Dale drop by a couple of days prior to the wedding, so that detail photographs can be taken of the rings, moccasins, Baby Eagle feathers, and some of his special race car models.

Groom serenades bride at Muttart Conservatory

David, the groom, plays saxophone in a band…..

… so it was just natural for him to serenade his new bride, Jennifer. This photograph was taken in front of the Muttart Conservatory in Edmonton on their wedding day. To get the groom in this pose, I simply said “Lisa from the Simpsons!” David immediately struck the pose, while Jennifer looked on.

Sunlight on steps inside church

A good wedding photographer is always on the lookout for “detail shots”……

Prior to the start of the Kirsten and Colin’s wedding, I was wondering around the inside of the McDougall Church in downtown Edmonton and noticed the sunlight streaming through the stained glass windows. This photograph is one of my favorite detail shots.

Monument Valley Time Exposure

This photograph is from one of my road trips to Monument Valley.

The image was captured from the Campsite just outside the park gate on the night of the full moon. The time exposure shows “star trails”. The stars do not move – it is the earth’s movement that a time exposure captures, giving the illusion that the stars are moving.

Edmonton Wedding Photography at Fort Edmonton Park

Jordana waits patiently on the trolley car for her groom, Dave, to “catch up”.

Even though it rained almost all day for Jordana and Dave’s wedding, the rain stopped long enough for our team to create some unique photographs outside in Fort Edmonton Park. The rain would start up again, and everyone would be forced to seek dry shelter inside some of the buildings. We would photograph the wedding formals inside and patiently wait for the rain to stop for a few minutes – then head outside again! I lost count of how many times we had to do this in order to finish the wedding photographs.

Edmonton Wedding Continues in the Rain

Two weeks in a row – RAIN !

Rachel was initially upset that it rained on her special day. Wedding photographers must be able to capture the moment in all sorts of weather – ranging from heat, to freezing cold, and yes – RAIN !
I had Rachel and Ryan grab an umbrella and head out into the rain and “kiss for the camera!”. After a few minutes, they forgot all about how wet their clothes were, and were kissing passionately! Maybe they were just trying to stay warm…..

The nice thing about photographing in the rain is how saturated the colors in the landscape turn out. Take a look at how GREEN everything is!

Photographer Shoots Edmonton Wedding Photographer

I was photographing Amanda and Kumail’s engagement session in the scenic trails in Old Glenora, Edmonton. Another photographer was out for a walk and “shot” me !

As you can see from the photograph, if I have to lay down on a sidewalk to capture the image, that’s what will be done! All the time during the shoot, I’m talking and joking with the clients, and making them totally comfortable with “THE EXPERIENCE”. Anyone can press the camera shutter button and “take a picture”, but only a special photographer can provide “THE EXPERIENCE”.

I would like to thank my friend Mufty Mathewson who shot me! I took my FIRST formal photography lesson from Mufty, and I am eternally grateful for the personal time and attention that she provided. Our team photographed Kerri and Michael’s engagement session, then followed them to San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico to capture their dream destination wedding! We partied and chilled with them for the whole week, even staying at the same resort (Barcello). It didn’t take long for them to notice my addiction to MONSTER Energy Drink plus my drink of choice was Captain Morgan Rum ! To show their appreciation, Kerri dropped off a special gift basket (What is inside??).

Darwin is one of the nicest and most talented people you will ever meet. He will go above and beyond to give you the most amazing pictures of your special day, or in our case,
A WHOLE WEEK !

I knew as soon as we booked Darwin we would have amazing pictures. It was such a relief knowing I had nothing to worry about when it came to the photos. Darwin let us know that he would take pictures of the resort, sightseeing, fun shots by the pool, and anything else we wanted. I am a huge picture person and having pictures of everything is important to me. I never go anywhere without my camera – but I didn’t even bring it on our trip – there was no need. Darwin took incredible photos of the resort, beach, and even went on tours we didn’t go on!

Having Darwin with us was like being everywhere at once because he captured moments with our friends and family we would have missed without him.

Not only did we have the pleasure of traveling and working with Darwin, but we were also lucky enough to have his wife Susan join us as well. She did all the off-camera flash work. They make an incredible team! Susan was so helpful and encouraging while Darwin captured the perfect shot. Thank you so much helping us survive those waves Susan!

I really can’t say enough good things about Darwin. He is one of the nicest and most talented people you will ever meet. He will go above and beyond to you the most amazing pictures of your special day, or in our case – A WHOLE WEEK! He is a unique mix of being very professional and super fun and became a part of the group and family easily. I am so grateful to have his photos to remember our wedding and trip forever. We are so lucky and honored to have Darwin as our photographer and friend.
